BSUIN presented during International conference in Sweden
The presentation of the BSUIN project during Linnaeus Eco-Tech 2018, in Kalmar, Sweden, was much appreciated. Over 130 persons from 27 countries attended the conference and had the chance to learn more about the unique cooperation between underground laboratories in the Baltic Sea region.
During the opening ceremony of Linnaeus Eco-Tech 2018 Marcus Laaksoharju, SKB, presented the BSUIN project. He was speaking under the heading “Baltic Sea Underground Innovation Network (BSUIN): Developing the capacity for innovation for the region’s underground laboratories”.
The Linnaeus ECO-TECH 2018 was arranged in the middle of November and took place in Kalmar near the Swedish Äspö Hard Rock Laboratory. This is one of the six underground facilities taking part in the EU-funded BSUIN-project.
“BSUIN is an important part of the development of Äspö Hard Rock Laboratory. The goal of the project is to broaden the use of the laboratories and increase the opportunity to utilize the facilities for innovations and this is also a goal for the activities at Äspö Hard Rock Laboratory” says Marcus Laaksoharju.
Linnaeus Eco-Tech is an international conference and has been an academic tradition since 1997. The conference is organized by the Swedish Linnaeus University in Kalmar, every second year. One of it’s main goals is to promote research and education cooperation among the countries around the Baltic Sea towards sustainability. The conference delegates represent researchers, scientists and students, professionals from business sector, municipalities and social enterprises, entrepreneurs and authorities from countries all over the world.
“From our point of view, it is important to participate in these kinds of associations to discuss the development of underground laboratories in the Baltic Sea region and how cooperation can be strengthened and lead to competitive advantages” says Marcus Laaksoharju.
