Service Design workshops of WP2.4 have been completed

The OUAS service design team facilitated the last Service Design workshop in St Petersburg 17.5.2018. The current business model of the Underground Low Background Laboratory of the Khlopin Institute was described by the representatives of the UL and the Khlopin Institute.

At the beginning of the workshop the hosts gave us interesting presentations on their specific research fields, and we also visited the historical museum. These gave us relevant background information for understanding and describing the current state of business, innovation and co-creation.

We found the international training services in the field of nuclear waste management extremely interesting. Tutorials and training have been offered for young scientists e.g. in UK, South Africa and China.

Each UL will get a report based on the workshop results and self-assessments. We will present a summary in Äspö in June. We have found that all ULs have some unique features and strengths. Some of the challenges are common to all ULs, e.g. the future. Benchmarking the best practices of the ULs is a good start for developing the service offering for the BSUIN network.
